Jonah Richard Lilly

Jonah "Dickie" Richard Lilly, 86, of Beckley, WV went home to the Lord on February 17, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jonah and Katherine Lilly; brother David Lilly; eldest son Don Lilly; and beloved wife of 66 years, Suzann "Suzie" Lilly. He is survived by sons Jeffery and Richard Lilly; daughter-in-law Amy Lilly; granddaughters Kia Boss and Leigh Ann Lilly; and great-grandchildren Hannah and Lucas Boss.


Jonah graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962, and later dedicated himself to his community as an officer with the Beckley Police Department, and deputy sheriff and detective with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office. He retired from The Southern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility. He was a devoted member of Oak Grove Christian Church, accomplished musician, and talented cook. He'll be remembered and missed for his humor, kindness, and the best baked ziti ever made.


Services will be held Monday, March 2, 2026 at Melton Mortuary in Beckley, WV. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Care WV.
