Funeral services will be on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 3 pm at Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Elwood Brooks will be officiating. Tommy will be laid to rest at the family cemetery on Lilly Mountain Road in Surveyor. The family will receive friends at 2 pm at the funeral home.

TOMMY ROSS STOVER

On June 3, 2018, our beloved father and friend, Tommy R Stover, 80, of Glen Daniel passed away. He was a resident of Harper Mills for the past two years. He was the baby boy of the late Roy and Nida Brooks Stover of Glen Daniel. Tommy was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was born on October 22, 1937. His brothers George, Donnie and Roy Curtis preceded him in death. His second wife, Dollie Stover, preceded him in death in 2014.

He was a lifelong resident of Glen Daniel. He attended Trap Hill High School. Mr. Stover worked 20 years for Vecillio and Grogan where he was a driller. He helped build many of the roads in West Virginia. He also worked as security guard at some of the strip mines before retiring. He enjoyed spending time and fishing with his sons, Kevin and Thomas. He was an avid Liberty High School sports fan.

He is survived by his first wife, Frances Burnette and their loving son, Kevin Ross Stover of Glen Daniel. He is survived by Dollie’s children, who loved and adored Tommy very much, Karen (Randy) Daniel, of Surveyor; Sandra Canterbury, of Surveyor; Ronald (Beverly) Canterbury, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Scott Perry, of Harper, and his youngest son, Thomas Stover, of Surveyor.

Tommy loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It brightened his day when they would visit him. His surviving grandchildren are Joshua Daniel of Morgantown; Kara Daniel of Surveyor; Kristen (Jeff) Massey of Glen Daniel; Jeremy Canterbury of Surveyor; SPC Andrew (Jazmine) Canterbury of Germany; Lily, Olivia, and Lucas Canterbury of Cincinnati, Ohio; Lance and Zachary Perry of Harper. He has several great grandchildren who he adored very much: Ceanna, Noah, Gabriel, Sara, Cameron and Henry. Tommy is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
