Matthew Anthony Bowers
God saw Matthew was getting tired and an earthly cure was not meant to be and so on Saturday, September 30th, 2017, he whispered, “ My son, come be with me.”
On Saturday morning, our Lord and Savior called Matthew Anthony Bowers back to Him after a courageous life journey of 27 years.
Born on March 26th, 1990, in Beckley, he was the precious son of Jerry and Lisa Dalton of Crab Orchard and the biological son of Mark Bowers of Clarksburg.
In addition to his parents, Matthew is the beloved brother of Stephen Arthur of Petersburg. He is the dear grandson of his paternal grandmother, Maggie Bowers of Clarksburg.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marvin Bowers; maternal grandparents, Rev. Fred and Athleen Brown Wilfong; great grandmother, Ella Barker and his uncle, William Gloshen.
Matthew is survived by a large extended family of aunts and cousins as well. Matthew had many hospitalizations at Morgantown throughout his life. He was a great WVU fan.
The family would like to thank Danese Divers for her loving care of Matthew during his final days and Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and compassion.
On Wednesday, October 4 th at 1:00 pm there will be a “Service of Remembrance” for Matthew at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Gary Williams will be officiating. Matthew will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday evening October 3rd from 6 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday .
We are all going to miss our sweet and special Matthew. But we know he is our Guiding light from Heaven watching over us now.
