A “Service of Remembrance” will be Wednesday, May 30th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Scott Dameron will be officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the mortuary.

Helen Reed Riffe

Mrs. Helen Reed Riffe was born September 6, 1926 in Crab Orchard, WV, the daughter of the late Harmon and Gertrude Reed. Helen was one of six siblings and the last living survivor. Helen died at Harper Mills on May 27, 2018 surrounded by her niece and nephew, and her nurses who cared for her so affectionately. Her brothers and sisters who preceded her in death were George, Harold, and Noel Reed, and Virginia Carter and Mary Belle Wilson.

Helen was married to Luther Gene Riffe. Gene preceded her in death. Helen and Gene spent winters in Florida and always enjoyed their family and friends there.

Helen was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and was baptized on September 12, 1943. At Crab Orchard Baptist Church, Helen served as the church clerk for many years. An active member of Mission Circle No. 2 and the Friendship Sunday School Class, she was employed at the Egnor Monument Works as a secretary.

Helen enjoyed her time spent at Harper Mills and loved her caregivers. Her special friend Faye will always be remembered.

Helen leaves to cherish her memories sister-in-law, Edith Jane Riffe, brother-in-law, Guy Wilson and his son Guy D. Neices and Nephews, Jane Lynn and Edward Harless, Jim and Pat Carter, Larry Reed, Nancy and Madison Harless, Eddie, Amanda, Emma, and Ella Harless, and Aidyn McGrady.

Those who will carry Aunt Helen’s casket to her rest here on earth will be Jim Carter, Eddie Harless, Mark Riffe, Pete Graham, Edward Harless, Paul Landy, Joe Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Reed and The Friendship Sunday School Class.
