On Monday, October 22nd, at 2:00 pm there will be a “Service of Remembrance” for out dear Elliot in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Paul Zutuat will be officiating. Elliot will laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park with full military honors. The family is receiving friends at 12 noon on Monday.
Elliot Ozra Meadows Jr.
On Tuesday, October 16th, 2018, our most cherished, Elliot Meadows passed peacefully from this world at the age of 78.
One of eight children, Elliot Ozra Meadows Jr. was born on February 1st, 1940 at Princewick. He was the son of Elliot Ozra and Ethel (nee, Meadows) Meadows Sr. In addition to his parents, Elliot was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Bill and Danny and sisters, Dorothy Hargus and Judy D’Angelo. His sisters, Ruth Ann Meadows and Joan Barton survive along with a large extended family. There are many lovable nieces and nephews surviving.
Elliot was a career serviceman, serving in the US Army for 23 years. He served two stints in Vietnam, was stationed in Germany and Korea as well. He was a member of the Honor Guard. Elliot was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He retired from the military in 1976.
Coming back home to his roots, Elliot settled with his family in Coal City. In his leisure he has enjoyed cookouts, his tractor and mule. Family and friends were everything to Elliot.
In addition to the Meadows, those left to cherish his memories include his adoring wife, Sandra Sue Gray Meadows. Elliot and Sandy immensely enjoyed being outside together. He is the dear father of Roger and Denise Williams and Lisa and Chris Dechant; there are several granddaughters and great- grandchildren. Sadly, daughters, Deanna Conant and Lila Bankenbush have preceded him in death. There are many friends and brothers in arms that were dear to Elliot, among them, special friends, Cecil and Rose Hyde.

So rest Soldier rest. We loved you so, but God loved you best.
