Billie Keller Dawson

It is with a heavy heart that we the family of Billie Dawson announce her passing. Our sweet Billie passed at the home of her daughter, Ronna Ferguson on Friday, June 22, 2018. She was 80 years young.

The second of six children, Billie Ernestine Keller was born on September 25th, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Georgia Marie Moore Keller. Billie is survived by her five siblings, Delores Cook, Joan Kirk and her husband, Jim, Buzzy Keller and his wife, Alice, Tommy Keller and his wife, Lois and Joe Keller and his wife, Karen. Billie is the first of her siblings to pass away. Her sisters and brothers are deeply hurt by this great loss.

Billie spent her childhood at Mabscott. She was a 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Billie worked in retail for a number of years at Montgomery Ward and JC Penny, then as she loved to say, “When the kids came along I became a domestic engineer!” She would marry twice in her life, first to James Davis, the father of her son, Ernie and then to Ronald Dawson, the father of her daughter, Ronna. Both James and Ronald have passed away. After her children were grown, Billie began a new career as a caregiver finder for residents of Greystone. She ran a successful business and was highly respected by the families that utilized her services.

Fun loving, free spirited, a happy soul was Billie. She loved to sing and play her guitar, she enjoyed dancing, camping and fishing. Billie was a Red Hat Lady, a member of the Women of the Moose and active with the Commission on Aging.

In addition to her siblings, Billie leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Ernest “Ernie” Dawson and his wife, Tammy, Ronna Ferguson and her husband, Joe; she was the proud “Nannie” of Penny, Little Ernie, Lily, Caitlin, Crystal, Kevin, Steven and Adam; there are eight great- grandchildren as well; a large extended family of nieces and nephews, among them was Jimmy Kirk who has preceded her in death. There are many friends and admirers.

And so now we must say goodbye to Billie. We so very much loved you, but God loved you best. Until we all meet again, God speed…..
