Ashlei Marie Hamrick Cornett

“Faithful humans will be able to live as God purposed for them to live – forever in perfect health. “Neither will… pain be anymore…”” (Revelation 21:4)

With broken but faithful hearts, our sweet daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, Ashlei Marie Hamrick Cornett was welcomed with open arms to the gates of heaven on Friday, March 23, 2018. She fought a long, hard battle with liver disease and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Ashlei left behind her beloved parents, John and Marie Hamrick, daughters Baylei and fiancé Brandon Burton, Kennedy, and Rylei, and her granddaughter Lynnlei. Also left to carry on her memory are her aunts, who loved her as their daughter, Jean Bolen (Bob) and Joan Wilkinson, her uncles Larry Walker and Kenneth Hamrick, cousins Bob Bolen (Lisa), Chad Bolen (Tammy), Angie Walker, Marty Walker (Windi), and Dwayne Walker. Ashlei was blessed to have Rhonda Taylor Bennett and Wendy Davidson Cunning as her lifelong friends who always supported and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Verlin and Agnes Walker, Ernest and Lena Hamrick and her uncle Lynn (Mary) Walker.

Ashlei was born and raised in Beckley, WV and was a 1990 graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended West Virginia University. Her life revolved around her precious girls and newborn grandbaby, as she always knew her true calling was to be a mom. She never met a stray animal that she didn’t love, and leaves behind her two dogs, Oreo and Daisy, three cats, Socks, Earl and Blue and Mrs. Fish.

Heartfelt thanks are given to two very special people to Ashlei, Rick and Juanita Cornett who have loved her, and she them, since she was fourteen. The Jan Care Ambulance crew always went above and beyond to take great care of her at a moment’s notice. We will be forever grateful.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 7 o’clock PM in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Family will receive friends at 6 PM.

Since her love of animals was evident throughout her life, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations can be made in her honor to the Raleigh County Humane Society, 325 Grey Flats Rd., Beckley, WV 25801.
