William Harrison Gibson, Jr

William (Bill) Harrison Gibson Jr, age 83, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House.

Bill was born March 19, 1940 in Stanaford, West Virginia, a son of William and Pearl Alentine Gibson (Meadows). In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his former wife Jo Ann Crisp, two grandsons, Brandon Lee Gibson, Liam Matthew McMillan, and daughter in law Lisa Ann Moul Gibson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his children, Rhonda Pearl Gibson of Beckley, WV, Galen Mark Gibson Sr. of Shady Spring, WV, Sheryl Kay Gibson of Beckley, WV, Teresa Dawn Gibson of Florida, William Frederick (Bill) Gibson of Cool Ridge, WV, former wife Karen Cornett Gibson of Beckley, WV, and children Matthew Lee Gibson (Melissa), of Beckley WV, Kara Ruth Gibson McMillan (Eric), of Beckley, WV, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Bill was a 1958 graduate of Shady Spring High School, where he played football, as a quarterback, and also played trumpet in the Shady Spring HS Band. After graduation he continued his education at Beckley, and Concord Colleges becoming a master electrician and owner of Gibson Electric. He was a hardworking man, a true red-blooded American, and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, who enjoyed playing golf, spending time with all his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in his free time.

A graveside service will take place for Bill on Thursday March 14th, 2024 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, West Virginia at 2:30pm with the Reverend Donnie Fink officiating. The family will accept friends and visitors at 1:00pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Foundation in his memory.
