Robert Gene Henderson

Robert Gene Henderson, or as many of his friends, called him "Animal" 72 of Saxon Rd., WV passed away at his home on March 26, 2024 surrounded by his family after a five-year battle with cancer.

Robert was a proud, retired Coal Miner with 44 years at Harris #1 and was a proud member of the UMWA, local 1503. His love for older cars was widely known and if he wasn't working on a car, you'd find him cutting wood or working outside. Robert was headstrong and determined. While he loved cars and working. He loved his family and grandkids more.

Robert is proceeded in death by his parents Troy and Norma Henderson a brother, Eddie Henderson, and a son, Bobby Henderson Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife of 50 years Martha "Janie" Henderson a son Jason (Courtney) Henderson, four grandchildren, Christopher Henderson, Alyssa Henderson, Alaina Bailey, and Josie Henderson. Three sisters Kathy (Doug) Shrewsbury, Karen (Archie) Morgan, and Sundee (James) Henderson. Several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

While we will miss him, we are happy to know he's at peace. The family would like to thank hospice of Southern West Virginia for all of their help and comfort throughout all of this.

Service will be on Saturday, March 30th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Garry Hall officiating. The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at the Henderson Family Cemetery, Glen Daniel, WV.
