Ronald Nelson Yellets
Ronald Nelson “Ronnie” Yellets, 66 of 95 Valley Street Oak Hill WV, passed away Saturday August 26, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley WV after a long illness.
Born March 9, 1951 Jersey Shore, PA, he was a son of the late Vincent Yellets and Gaythell Worrledge Yellets Harrah. He was preceded in death by twin sisters and a brother.
Ron graduated from Jersey Shore Area Senior High School in PA and attended Beckley College and Concord College. He worked in the coal mines for nearly ten years, did construction work in VA, was a counselor at the Methodist Child Care Center in Beckley for a number of years, served as a case worker for DHHS, and was of late employed by SALS in Oak Hill WV as a crew foreman, retiring several years ago. He enjoyed wood crafting, gardening, deer hunting, fishing and cooking. He especially enjoyed making pound cakes that won blue ribbons in the Fayette County fairs.
He is survived by his daughter Autuman Kocaman of Wilmington DE, a son Zachary (Lisa) Thomas of Pueblo CO and a foster-son Jason Davis of Oak Hill. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Wesley Yellets, Murat Bicak, Chaz Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Zach Thomas, Kaylia Thomas, Savannah Foster and Danny “PaPa’s Boy“ Davis and several great grandchildren.
Additional survivors include his brothers: Bill (Robin) Yellets of Mertztown PA; John David (Mona) Yellets of Rice’s Landing, PA; Rick (Domigene) Yellets of Oak Hill and Gary (Becky) Yellets of Charlottesville, VA. Sisters: Pat Orso of Williamsport, PA; Sharon Blackwell of Orlando FL; Joanne Warwick of Oak Hill, and Susie (Billy) Armstrong of Dothan AL also many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two long-time friends, Dale Hudson and Barbara Cox Mizelle of Beckley.
There was no visitation or service. The body was cremated and will be interred with his mother at a later date in Restlawn Cemetery, Victor, Fayette County WV.
