Funeral Services will be held Thursday December 14th at 1:00 pm at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, 1200 Harper Road, Beckley, WV. The family will begin to receive visitors at 11:00 am. Reverend Larry Lilly will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

John Pedro went to be with the lord at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC following a short illness, on Saturday December 9th, 2017.

He was born March 10th 1932, to the late John and Virginia Pedro, in Beckley WV. He spent his life in the Beckley area with the love of his life, Juanita Pedro, and was unconditionally devoted to her care and happiness until her death last year. John was a devout Christian and taught Sunday School for years at the Memorial Baptist Church; he was later on a member of the Woodland Baptist church in Rural Hall, NC. His faith remained strong until the end, and he was a true inspiration to his beloved family and friends. He graduated with a B.A. and B.S. from WV Tech and held a master’s degree from Marshall University. John was a dedicated educator, and taught welding for several years prior to retiring as the County Director of Vocational and Technical Education at the Raleigh County Vocational Center. Mr. Pedro was a member of the Masonic Lodge 95 in Beckley, WV. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, in the 36th Fighter-Bomber Wing.

He is survived in death by his daughter and caretaker, Patricia Ann Osborne, and husband Owen; granddaughter, Ashley Osborne; brother Jack Pedro and his wife, Mary Etta; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 loving years, Juanita Pedro; his son, John R. Pedro Jr; his sister Garnet Shepard; and his parents.
