John Michael Cheetham, 36, of Cranberry died unexpectedly Friday August 25, 2017.
Born July 3, 1981 he was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Marie Cheetham; aunt, Nancy Jonette Cheetham; grandmother, Aileene Cheetham; and grandfather, John George Cheetham.
Survivors include his daughter, Callie Celeste Cheetham and her mother, Lorelei Smith; brother, Lewis Gregory Lilly; aunt, Sandra Sturms; cousins, Jennifier Sturms, Jason Sturms, and Robert Sturms; and cousin, Shevawn Walzel. John leaves behind many close friends who he considered family, including Basil Albert Spangler, Holly Darnell and her parents, Larry and Vicki, Russell Scott Bailes, Jason Sell, Tim Blankenship, Anna Wade, Kevin Stover, and all his fellow co-workers at Big Lots.
In life John was an outgoing and creative person who befriended others with ease. John had a great passion for music, particularly rap, and would often spend his free time learning to play his favorite songs on guitar and writing rhymes. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors doing activities such as hiking and swimming. In his youth, John participated in Boy Scouts, an organization very dear to his family, and was proud to have made the rank of Eagle Scout. John attended Concord University and graduated with a degree in education.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Friends and family may visit from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm.
