Services Will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at Melton's Mortuary. Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm. Funeral services will begin at 2pm with burial immediately following at Davis Family Cemetery in Glen Daniel.

In the early morning hours on July 10, 2017, Wayne’s phone rang at his bedside. He answered the call, receiving his complete healing. Jesus had called him home, ending his long battle with cancer.

Ellis Wayne Mitchem, 47 of Glen Daniel, was born on Sept. 17, 1969 to Ellis and Deloris (Blake) Mitchem. He was preceded in death by a baby boy, Brandon Owen Mitchem, father in law, Russell Steele, paternal grandparents, Albert and Dorthy Mitchem and maternal grandparents, Shelbern and Lucille Blake.

Left here to carry on his memories are his wife of 27 years, Melissa (Missy) Mitchem, daughters Danielle Patricia Mitchem and Meranda Donette Clinebell and husband Brandon and a beautiful granddaughter, Alaynah Reign Clinebell,. Also left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his parents, Ellis and Deloris Mitchem, sister Teresa Gunter and husband Bill, mother in law Patricia Steele, brother in law David Sauls and wife Heather. He also had 9 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him.

WayneO, as known by many of his family and friends, worked as a coal miner. Doing it so well that ,at one time, he held a record on a shift footage run. Wayne also enjoyed fishing, old cars, and his circle books. He loved “His Girls” as he referred to them, and his eyes shined as he played with his grand daughter. He enjoyed his time spent with family and friends laughing and joking. He also found great joy in praising the Lord, and his faith was strong.

 

Officiating services will be Tommy Blake and Bob Persinger. Friends and family will serve as pall bearers.

The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home for burial. Our family would also like to extend a very special thanks to the church family at Maple Meadow Chapel.
