Beverley “Biji” Shelton

On Monday, September 25th, 2017, our most cherished, Beverley Shelton passed away at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.   She was in her 81st year.

Known affectionately as “Biji” all her life, Beverley Niedermyer was born on December 12th, 1935.   The youngest of two children, her parents were the late John William and Florence Rough Niedermyer.  Her brother, John has preceded her in death as well.

A devoted homemaker to her family, Biji had enjoyed volunteering at her church, First Baptist on Neville Street, where she was active in the children’s programs.   Biji was a baker in her leisure time and loved watching the Mountaineers play.

Biji leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Guy.  To their union was born their three children, sons, Doug and John of Beckley and a daughter, Leslie Freeman and her husband, Doug of Huntington.   This coming December 29th, Beverley and Guy would have celebrated 55 years of marriage.  Biji was especially proud of all of her grandchildren, Nate and Lauren, Alec, Elise, Bethany, Adelyn and Victoria.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 29 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 422 Neville Street.    Rev. Doc Adkins will be officiating.   The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 am.

In keeping with her wishes, Biji has been cremated.   Her ashes will be scattered at Myrtle Beach where she enjoyed spending winters.

A special thanks to Kathy Toler for being a trusted friend and loving caregiver to our dear Biji.
